Since 2017 the United Way of Southington and the Main Street Community Foundation have agreed on a partnership to provide a transportation service to Southington seniors. Through the Bradley Henry Barnes & Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust, Southington Senior residents are afforded the opportunity to attend local area medical appointments. also, Southington elderly individuals are transported to visit pharmacies, care facilities to meet with “loved ones”, banks, and hairdressers/barbers.
Seniors are driven to their destinations by community volunteers administered by Senior Transportation Services, a local 501 (c) (3) organization. the visits are free of charge to people. Drivers pick up their clients and return their passengers home upon completion of their appointment. They forge friendships with the person in providing a much needed ride to and from their destination.
Please review the flyer below if you are in need of transportation. Moreover, if you wish to volunteer to drive those requiring assistance to and/or from local necessary establishments, please contact Senior Transportation Services as provided in the flyer attached.
