The United Way of Southington directly funds the most important programs at the most important charities. We utilize a strict reporting process to monitor progress of the following charities:
- ARC of Southington – provides respite care for those caring for a loved one with mental challenges
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters – provides mentors for our youth
- Bread for Life - provides meals for seniors, shut- ins, and homeless
- Catholic Charities - provides counseling to help residents manage their lives
- Center for Healthy Aging - allows seniors to remain in their homes longer
- Child Guidance Clinic – provides counseling to children to help them with any struggles
- Community Mental Health Affiliates – provides programs for students at our alternative high school
- Connecticut Legal Services – helps residents with any legal issue
- Literacy Volunteers – teaches adult residents how to read and do math
- Margaret Griffin Child Development Center – provides daycare to struggling working parents
- Mulberry Gardens – provides a meal and companionship to our seniors
- Prudence Crandall Center – provides a safe shelter for women and children
- Retired Senior Volunteer Program – provides rides and volunteer services to our community
- Salvation Army – provides a full range of services to those in crisis in our community
- Visiting Nurse Association – provides health care in our homes
- YMCA – has programs targeted to our youth
- YWCA Sexual Assault Crisis Service – provides counseling and services for women that have been assaulted
The United Way of Southington’s Mission is to facilitate a community- wide collaboration so that funds can be raised and assistance provided to organizations involved in human service programs in Southington, Marion, Milldale and Plantsville.
